Determination of Polysaccharide Molecular Weight Distribution

Polysaccharides are a class of polymer compounds that, unlike low molecular weight compounds, do not have a fixed molecular weight but rather exist as a mixture of homologues with varying molecular weights. As such, a polymer’s molecular weight is represented as an average value, incorporating a distribution range. This variability, or polydispersity, is a critical characteristic of polymers. GlycoSpectra Analytics, leveraging the advanced Wyatt 18-angle laser light scattering instrument DAWN combined with GPC-RI (Gel Permeation Chromatography-Refractive Index detection), offers comprehensive analysis capable of determining not only the molecular weight distribution, size, and conformation of polymers but also detailed parameters such as the root mean square radius of gyration and molecular aggregation state. This service meets the diverse research needs for solution properties in complex dispersion systems.

Sample Submission Guidelines

1.Sample Types

Polysaccharide freeze-dried powder or solid powder.

2.Biological Replicates

A minimum of three biological replicates is recommended for robust results.

3.Quantity Requirements

Polysaccharide freeze-dried powder: 5~10mg.

4.Sample Preparation

1)Liquid samples (if they contain salt, it is recommended to desalt them first) are recommended to be freeze-dried first to ensure that they do not contain moisture and organic solvents.

2)In order to accurately reflect the sample results, the sampling must be uniform.

3)Three biological replicates are recommended for each group.

4) It is recommended to purify the polysaccharide and send it to our company after collecting the material.

5.Labeling Requirements

Please place the sample in a suitable container and indicate necessary information such as sample name, concentration, and preparation time.

6.Other

A sample technical requirement form must be mailed along with the samples to avoid delays in project timelines due to the inability to promptly verify information.
